Jrod's All Access To "Healing In The Heartland"

Jrod was on site for the benefit "Healing In The Heartland" for your behind the scenes look at the show.

  •
Day started off with a Media Pass, which in the end got it taken from me. They changed access to my security clearnace. But I ended up being ok in the end.
  •
Usher was in his dressing room when I took this pic early afternoon. I didn't get a pic with Usher, but I did end up getting a chance to say hello and he was super nice.
  •
Reba's door was literally 6 feet away from Usher. I have a good pic of Reba and Blake Shelton coming up here in a few.
  •
This was a view of the stage from the end of the catwalk.
  •
Fully lit up stage. I was really excited at this point.
  •
This was the point I knew something special for the broadcast was going to happne. Blake Shelton was doing his soundcheck and Usher came on stage and they started working on a duet. I want to tell you this, Usher didn't know the song at all. So much as the 2 were practicing in the hall from where I was. You'll see that picture coming up.
  •
This was on the Program Monitor when sound check was going on. I do have a video on our blog page of them doing this song.
  •
I had to have my access changed. So here was my second pass of the day. So many good people working to get that show off the ground.
  •
Blake Shelton was probably the tallest person I've ever met. He's also one of the nicest I've met in a long time. It was nice to hear how much he really cared about this state.
  •
We were set up in "The Pub" right behind the stage in the hall where you see the OKC Thunder walk down at halftime and when they come out for the games. Usher was hanging out, getting ready for his preformance with Blake Shelton. I ended up getting to say hi, and Usher was a great guy.

These pictures were all made by young students at the Oklahoma Science Museum. They were all thank you signs for all of the acts who came to perform to rais money for the people who were affected by the May 19th and 20th storms

This was a really cool moment. Reba was walking by as Blake Shelton was playing his song that he and Usher would end up closing down the broadcast with. I'm telling you literally after I took this picture...Usher sat down and they started working on the song. It was a little loud in the hall, so they moved to Usher's dressing room about 2 minutes after this pic was taken

Vince Gill was awesome. He was glad to be a part of the show. He's from Norman if you didn't know and is all to familiar with the storms that race across Oklahoma.
  •
Luke Bryan came by and hung out with us for a bit. I promise you if you have a thing for him, he is a nice guy.
  •
Darius Rucker is someone I met a long time ago, and is still to this day a great guy. We talked about golf, and Darius even joked about playing with me. Well see if that happens

Rascal Flatts came by, I met these guys when they first came out back when I worked in Wichita Kansas. It was nice to see them again, and here is something funny. They flew in 2 hours before the show, just to do one song, and then they were flying out. Thanks for all your time guys.
