State Fair of Oklahoma Food 2013

Jrod got to sample a lot of food at the State Fair of Oklahoma before it opened this year and he'll give you his review.

  •
Bacon Bloody Mary. This was excellent. It's a beer based bloody mary, but trust me you'll never be able to tell the difference. I rate this one a 10!!
  •
Bacon Chocolate Cream Puff. It was light, and you need to get a bite with everything mixxed together for the full effect. I rate this about a 6. It's totally worth trying.
  •
Bacon Wrapped Caramel Apple. Some may like this, some may not. I will tell you I loved it. They made the caramel from scratch, and made it a little sweeter to balance the tart of the apple, the salty of the bacon. I say give it a try, but share it with a few friends. I give this an 8. It looks scary, but it's delicious.
  •
Bacon Wrapped Carmel Apple. This is a slice of the Bacon Wrapped Caramel Apples. If you're afraid of this, start with this size and share a full apple with a few friends.
  •
Cheese Curds. This probably should be called fair food crack. They make this with Jalapeno, but alos just plane cheese curds. Either way, make sure you make the cheese curds a MUST. I give it a 10. These things are so addictive, and they came in a bucket. Come on...who doesn't like a bucket.
  •
Cheesy Bacon Bombs. Monterey Jack cheese wrapped in a dough, bacon and deep fried till the cheese starts to run out. Pretty good. I give these about a 6. I wanted more bacon.
  •
Chicken on a Stick. I will say this is another MUST have at the fair this year. Chicken on a stick wrapped in bacon. They make their own recipe for the bredding and have homemade hot sauce. I give these a 10. You need to try this.
  •
Chicken on a Stick. This was only half a serving of the chicken on a stick, and the hot sauce. I promise you I ate every single bite of this.
  •
Chocolate PB Fudge Puppy. To put it simple, it's a chocolate waffle ish wrap with a peanut butter cream filling, covered in chocolate and served on a stick. I would rate this a 9. It's delicious, but you can't really share it. Did I mention that wouldn't be a bad thing?? LOL
  •
Cinna Burger. This is one I really wanted to try. To make it simple, it's a cinnabon cut in half with a burger, lettuce and cheese on the inside. I was excited when they brought these out. I would give this about a 6. I liked it, and yes I'm weird. But I would have loved it more if it was the bacon cinnabon and not just the plane cinnabon.
  •
Cinnamon Rolls. Fair staple. All I can say is you know you want it now. I rate this a 10. They were gooy and soft. Plus there was a layer of a candied something on the bottom that I would just carry arround in my mouth at all times.
  •
Cinnamon Rolls. I just wanted to show you I didn't eat that whole tray.
  •
Cookie Dough Parait. This was a layer of Ice Cream, in the middle there is a layer of cookie dough (no egg cookie dough just so you know) and a little more ice cream, whip cream and chocolate, then topped with 2 fresh baked cookies. I give this a 10. The picture is the serving size you get when you order. You may want to be a little stingy with this. Not because it's small, but because it's delicious.
  •
Foot Long Corn Dog. This is one of my favorites and I think one thing you almost always need to get. I give it an 8... see the next picture to see why.
  •
They gave us sample sizes, and I really wanted to eat that whole dang thing. It's good and can also act as a weapon. I like it.
  •
Deep Fried Butter. This is butter that was mixxed with Cinnamon and frozen. Battered and fried and covered with powderd sugar. I give it a 6. It was good in theory, but it was a little...well look at the next picture.
  •
Deep Fried Butter. It was a little messy. It was good and I totally think you should try it. But it was just a little messy.
  •
Everything At The Fair Popcorn. This was created as a joke. It is a bag of popcorn with cheese, regular, kettle, caramel, and bacon flavored popcorn. They even attach a stick to the bag to cover everything. I give this an 8. You need to try it because it's weird enough you just might like it.
  •
Frosted Flakes Wrapped Chicken. I say yes yes yes. This was sweet, and savory at the same time. It's simple and delicious. I give it a 9. You need to try it because you can share it, and you will love every bite.
  •
Porky's Brisket Sandwich. This is a brisket sandwich done the right way. The bread is a bread you can only get in OK. I give it an 8. It's delicious, but it was one of the last things we had to eat and I think I was getting ready to explode.
  •
Strawberry Puff. The normal serving is way bigger then the picture. I liked this dish. It was simple and totally still tasted like summer. I give it a 7. Only reason, is because I think it would be hard to eat and run with.
